A boost for Marry Me‘s renewal hopes as NBC orders five additional episodes, bringing the total order to 18 episodes, per Variety.
In the cut-throat cancel/renew landscape, the expanded order doesn’t guarantee a Season 2 renewal (or that the episodes will air), but in theory it gives the freshman comedy more time to prove its worth.
Marry Me is currently the #2 new broadcast comedy in the advertiser-coveted 18-49 so far this season – behind ABC’s Black-ish, which is on course to be renewed for Season 2.
Watch this space as we continue to watch the ABC cancel/renew trapdoor.
